Customer Management Operations (CMO)
CMO (Customer Management Operations) is an operations function that ensures our subscribers receive outstanding service in their programming choice, billing, and payment options. CMO also manages our customer risk/credit policies, payments to third party installers and billing agreements for bundled services within our telecommunications partners.
Example responsibilities for a recent graduate may include:
- Analyze subscriber profiles to identify the key attributes of high value customers and ways to best support them.
- Benchmarking the DISH subscriber base credit scores and proposing the ideal mix of credit scores to help acquire new customers profitably.
- Identifying key factors contributing to inefficiencies in credit/allowance processing and recommending improvements.
Customer Service Center (CSC)
Our U.S. based Customer Service Centers (CSC's) employ thousands of individuals who provide superb customer and technical service to support and retain our customers. Our CSC agents are backed by a variety of other support teams including training and development, resource management, technical operations support, analysis and forecasting, vendor management and quality assurance.
Example responsibilities for a recent graduate may include:
- Providing training support including course design, technical writing, on-the-job analysis or vendor relationship management.
- Conducting financial analysis to monitor our performance metric trends and recommend process or system improvements.
- Coaching, mentoring, leading and supporting the day to day operations in a special project capacity.
Field Service
Our nationwide installation and service network employs thousands of technicians for residential and business customers. In addition to the national technician network, the group includes operations support, dispatch, forecasting, resource planning, inventory and real estate.
Example responsibilities for a recent graduate may include:
- Helping to manage and lead a field office operations team.
- Analyzing operating data and recommending process or measurement system improvements.
- Designing and developing training materials to enhance our technicians' capabilities.
Finance
The Finance function includes areas such as SEC reporting, general ledger, international, fixed asset/inventory, compensation accounting, financial planning and analysis, payroll, accounts payable and receivable, tax, and internal audit.
Example responsibilities for a recent graduate may include:
- General ledger accounting, including journal entries, general ledger maintenance, reconciliations, and general month-end close procedures including investigation and resolution of variances.
- Working within the SEC and Technical Accounting teams on quarterly and annual reports in accordance with SEC and GAAP requirements.
- Preparing payroll reconciliations, monthly report processing and year-end payroll/tax processing.
- Performing financial analysis and modeling to assist in budgeting and continuous improvement of day to day operations.
Human Resources
The Human Resources function houses several teams including compensation, benefits, HR technology, recruiting, university relations, compliance, learning & organizational development and generalists. Our new HR Associates are expected to undertake a field assignment as part of their development.
Example responsibilities for a recent graduate may include:
- Assisting with the development, documentation and communication of compensation or benefits programs. This includes market research and benchmarking, plan administration and recommendations.
- Supporting the planning and execution of all aspects of our intern and full-time campus recruiting program.
- Sourcing and screening candidates for field and support positions across the company.
Information Technology
Our IT department develops and deploys our internal and customer-facing applications and infrastructure. IT Security is focused on securing and protecting information. IT Operations deploys and supports our computer networks, email, help desk, databases and telephony systems. Customer Applications focuses on externally-facing systems such as our consumer web sites, sales tools, and customer support. The Internal Applications team supports applications such as our ERP and reporting tools used by DISH employees. The Project Management Office (PMO) plans and organizes the department's project roadmap to ensure projects are completed on-time, on-budget and in a high quality manner.
Example responsibilities for a recent graduate may include:
- Developing software for our internal and external applications.
- Working in the PMO as a liaison between IT and the business, by conducting business process analysis, requirements gathering and cost/benefit analysis, to deliver the best possible solutions.
- System end-to-end testing of applications and interfaces to make sure new software applications perform well once deployed.
Legal
The attorneys in our Legal department practice in a variety of areas such as media, satellites, international, technology transactions, sales and distribution, securities, intellectual property, regulatory, real estate and litigation.
Example responsibilities for a recent graduate may include:
- Drafting a commercial agreement including managing all aspects that would enable another entity to market DISH.
- Preparing a patent application, including meeting with our engineers and other in-house lawyers, to discuss and assist with the drafting and filing process.
- Supporting M&A work in all aspects of the transaction ranging from research and due diligence to negotiating and drafting a purchase agreement.
Marketing
Our Marketing group is charged with driving new customer acquisition. Through various market research methods, the team develops and executes campaigns and initiatives for different customer segments and distribution channels.
Example responsibilities for a recent graduate may include:
- Training local sales distribution partners on upcoming campaigns and marketing tools.
- Analyzing customer acquisition channels and trends and developing new strategies to improve our ROI.
- Managing the market introduction of new TV viewing equipment or programming.
Programming
Programming negotiates with regional, national, and international content producers to secure best-in-class video experiences (television, movies and special events) for our customers. Within Programming there are dedicated small teams serving in finance, marketing, international and operations roles.
Example responsibilities for a recent graduate may include:
- Creating and implementing marketing initiatives to increase customer programming choices while maximizing profitable revenue.
- Developing and executing promotional plans with our programming partners, to drive awareness.
- Completing an analysis of DISH domestic and international programming and platform offerings versus our competitors to improve our market positioning.
Sales
DISH programming is distributed through several sales channels. Indirect Sales partners with independent local retailers, large distributors, and national accounts like Sears & Radio Shack, who represent DISH. Our Direct Sales team works with individuals who inquire directly (via the phone or web) about our programming offerings. Our Commercial Services organization focuses on business outlets including restaurants, apartment communities and office complexes. Finally, our Retail Services team provides sales, marketing and operational support to help our retailers achieve success.
- Supporting a regional distribution partner in local marketing efforts.
- Assisting with customer contracts and strategies for new business development.
- Providing coordination and analytical support for an advertising partner to place ads on DISH programming.
Equipment Remanufacturing
The DISH Remanufacturing team oversees the recovery, repair and redeployment of our electronic equipment such as set top boxes and remote controls. This light manufacturing department is supported by a variety of teams including industrial engineering, logistics, planning & forecasting, data analysis, software & hardware design, financial planning and project management.
- Developing computer-based electronic test equipment.
- Supporting the management of internal and external repair operations.
- Analyzing performance data to improve quality and reduce costs.
