The DISH Accounting department provides valuable transparent accounting and financial support to all business units and stakeholders. We keep them informed of operating performance as well as assist in making strategically sound organizational decisions. It is also our obligation to safeguard assets. The Accounting functions include SEC reporting, general ledger, fixed asset/inventory, compensation, payroll, cash and investments, accounts payable and receivable, Tax, and Internal Audit.

Corporate Finance

Perform financial and strategic analyses to improve performance for all areas of the company.

The Finance function includes Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A). The DISH Corporate FP&A team is responsible for long term strategic planning, budgeting, forecasting, design and implementation of financial and operational cost analyses, business unit analytical support, identifying trends within the business and the Pay-TV, Broadband, and Wireless industries, recommending and implementing methods for improvement, and supporting the CFO and other senior level executives with external financial reporting/analysis and strategic decision support.

Customer Experience

The Customer Experience Department is responsible for the overall experience of our 14 million customers. This team is tasked with proactively fixing customer issues that would result in a contact to DISH. When customers do contact DISH, the Customer Experience team is responsible for building the tools, processes, training and technology that will allow our 10,000+ customer experience agents world-wide with the ability to handle and resolve the customers issues.

In-Home Services supports and manages our installation technicians. Our nationwide installation and service network employs thousands of technicians for residential and business customers. In addition to the national network of technicians, the team includes operations support, dispatch, forecasting, resource planning, inventory, process improvement, and training. The Information Technology (IT) department develops and deploys our internal and customer-facing applications and infrastructure. IT Security is focused on securing and protecting information. IT Operations deploys and supports our computer networks, email, help desk, databases and telephony systems. Customer Applications focuses on externally-facing systems such as our consumer web sites, sales tools, and customer support. The Internal Applications team supports applications such as our ERP and reporting tools used by DISH employees. The Project Management Office (PMO) plans and organizes the department's project road map to ensure projects are completed on-time, on-budget and in a high-quality manner.

The Retention Team is responsible for DISH's most valuable asset, the customer. We are accountable for churn, the rate at which customers leave DISH. It is also one of our most visible metrics. To prevent churn, we leverage over $450 million in customer offers, continually work to improve the customer experience, and produce existing customer marketing such as commercials and direct mail. To do all of this effectively, we are divided into three sub-groups: customer marketing, operations, and analytics.

Sales

Sales is a multi-faceted department within DISH. In the simplest of terms, Sales is responsible for working hand-in-hand with anyone that sells DISH products and services. Indirect Sales partners are those businesses that are independently owned but sell our products. Members of this channel range from local independent businesses, to big box retailers such as Best Buy. In order to best support this channel, our Sales Support teams provide sales, marketing, training and operational support to help our retailers achieve their full potential. These teams work together to keep all business partners on track with their day-to-day operations and sales goals. Our business efforts in non-residential outlets such as restaurants, hotels, and offices are managed by our DISH Business group. Our Direct Sales team then works with the owned and operated Customer Experience Centers who handle direct inquiries (via the phone or web) about our programming. Finally, our Sales Channel Training group develops and delivers training materials that support the education of anyone selling DISH services.

Software Engineering

Support the manufacturing operation by developing automated test equipment, as well as improving existing processes, fixtures, and production floor layout.

The DISH Technologies team for Software Engineering designs, develops and maintains software for our set-top-boxes and remotes. Several of our software subsets are responsible for specific areas of the code base, including database, security, user-interface, applications, and kernel and drivers. This diverse Software code base uses primarily C and C++, but also includes code written in other languages. For example, our application team creates features on scalable cloud based back end systems using Java, Python, and Ruby.

Additionally, we have a testing team to verify all parts of the code and how it interacts with the hardware. Our software engineers use a team approach to develop and test the software. For example, the application team members work in 2-week sprints, taking stories and working collaboratively with internal and external team members to create API specs, implement code, create unit tests, and integrating feature with other teams to bring feature to fruition.
