From Customer Service Representative to SVP In-Home Services

As Robb Origer began his role as Senior Vice President of In-Home Services, he reflected on all of his professional experiences at EchoStar. The opportunity to move internally has shaped his career, providing him numerous opportunities to make a meaningful impact. Robb began his career at EchoStar as a Customer Service Representative. This hands-on experience ignited his passion for the technology industry and laid the groundwork for his extensive career. As his story unfolds, one thing becomes abundantly clear: internal mobility opportunities have been instrumental in his career development and success.

 

Recognizing the importance of growth, Robb actively sought opportunities to expand his skill set and responsibilities. He approached each role as a chance to learn more about various parts of a growing organization.  His commitment to helping others navigate their own career paths ultimately led him to the In-Home Services division, where he could further leverage his leadership abilities.

 

As a Customer Service Representative, he engaged directly with customers, gaining insights into their needs and preferences. This role opened the door to future opportunities, allowing Robb to grow from the ground up within EchoStar. Robb credits the supportive culture and the mentorship he received throughout his journey as critical to propelling him forward. “I have been fortunate to work for, and with, some incredible leaders that recognized my potential and encouraged my curiosity,” he noted. This encouragement fueled his desire to expand his understanding of various departments, driving Robb to seek opportunities across the organization.

With each transition, Robb demonstrated a remarkable ability to adapt. His move to the Indirect Channel Sales division as an Account Executive allowed him to develop relationships with independent retailers while honing his skills in sales and customer service. His promotion to Area Manager further solidified his leadership capabilities as he identified new points of sale and developed new customer acquisition efforts. In this role, he worked with business owners to develop relationships and build shared success. Each step in his career journey enriched his understanding of the business and opened new avenues for collaboration and innovation. Transitioning to Central Operations marked a pivotal moment in Robb's career. This role not only aligned with his family's relocation needs but also provided him with a platform to influence key operational processes. “Working in operations allowed me to see the bigger picture of how we serve our customers,” Robb reflected, emphasizing the importance of a holistic approach in enhancing service delivery.

 

As he returned to Sales Operations, Robb embraced the chance to lead a team that supported thousands of retailers nationwide. His focus on training and development underscored his commitment to empowering others. “My role is to ensure that our team members understand the value of their contribution, while being prepared and positioned to be great,” he stated, highlighting the vital role of mentorship in his leadership philosophy.

Today, as he oversees the In-Home Services division, Robb and his team are focused on continuous improvement and innovation as they balance operational efficiency and an exceptional customer experience. “Every decision we make is rooted in our commitment to our customers,” he explained. Robb’s journey is an example of how an individual (given the right amount of drive, determination, commitment and flexibility) can go from an entry-level role to a senior executive within a single organization.
